I am on a S: drive next to a link to an offsite server. I am trying to locate a printer next to no options when I browse the net. The printer is a HP Laserject 4050 series. NO printers show in the printers/fax folder within the CPU. It is a Windows XP operating system.
I am trying to numeral out how to locate a printer on a newtwork drive to be exact on a server offsite. Suggestions
get the IP of the printer. Add the port to you're local printer port. (install it similar to a local printer)
you can get the IP by printing a configuration page from the printer itself.
Try to access the actual C:\ drive of that server. For example if the server given name is serverX. try to access its C:\ drive from your PC this way.:
From your Windows XP Start button, select Run and type: \\serverX\C$. If in attendance are any local or network printers shared, they should show up.
I hope this help.
ok!You must specify your network later go to start control panel printers and after right click on your printer and then click share perfect luck
Im on Vista at the moment so if memory serves: My computer>Network Places> View My Network Connections
That should (slowly yet determined) map out adjectives the computers yours has access to surrounded by the Local Network...wail...local - d'oh!
Any chance of contacting the preservation team at the Server's location? Depending on who manage it they should have some pretty biddable Networking Trolls on the payroll at the phsical location.
